Sweeney Kovar transformed his old rap blog Classic Drug References into a label and compilation series. Since closing the blog, he's made great connections. The first release features tracks from west - coast stars like Blu and Ras G, and Detroit's Danny Brown. It starts with a smooth guitar loop by Mike Chav, who works with Erykah Badu and Jay Electronica. This collection offers abstract vibes and dips into left - coast hip - hop. Blu & Knxwledge stay true to west - coast style, while Ras G goes to his unique outer - space sound. Zeroh delivers wild rhymes. Pablo Yg¨¢l's 'Disappear Without A Trace' adds a jazz - fusion and Topanga Canyon feel. The compilation ends with two rare producer - MC pairings. Danny Brown's track has Mndsgn's open - style production, and Dibiase gives Quelle a Dilla - inspired beat to bring us back to earth. This Triple 7 boxset comes with detailed liner notes, interviews, and photos. Music label: Classic Drug References 2014. Reviewed by Kool Moby 03/2014.

To enjoy this Classic Drug References Vol.1 Vinyl 7 Boxset, simply play the vinyls on a suitable turntable. Make sure the turntable is set up correctly to get the best sound quality.
