Jinx: The four members of Crumb met at Tufts University in Boston. They formed to showcase Lila Ramani's songwriting. After two great EPs, they released this self - released debut album
Jinx. It was inspired by their rapid rise, a near - fatal car accident, and Arthur Verocai's production sound.
Jinx offers dazzling psych - pop tracks that are never predictable. It reminds us of bands like Barrie and Men I Trust, but Crumb isn't focused on perfect pop songs. There are jazzy modulations, tempo changes, and detuned synths to keep you on your toes. Lila's vocals on “Nina” and “Fall Down” are reminiscent of Kevin Parker's style. You could compare Crumb to Stereolab or Broadcast, but their sound is refreshingly original. It's like a less European, more laid - back version of Melody's Echo Chamber. Check out tracks like “Ghostride,” “M.R.,” “Cracking,” “Jinx,” “Faces,” and the vinyl - only bonus track “Better”. This is a must - have for music lovers!
