Homeshake is the solo project of Peter Sagar, an Edmonton - born, Montreal - based musician. 'Midnight Snack' was recorded last winter at the Drones club in Montreal with Jackson MacIntosh. This time, Sagar uses synthesizers and a drum machine instead of his guitar, crafting vocal arrangements from self - created loops. He takes influence from house pioneers like Chip E and Mr. Fingers, and Japanese pop starlets like Chiemi Manabe, adding his own drowsy touch. The album is a mix of personal stories with a nod to D'Angelo and Sade. Written after his time as Mac Demarco's touring guitarist, it reflects on loneliness and longing for home. Sagar left the band to focus on his own music. Many tracks deal with anxiety and melancholy but also show a return to safety. Sagar draws from his international tour experiences, slows down the tempo, and builds humble music. He also shows deep appreciation for his girlfriend's cooking and the simple joy of a midnight snack. This 2015 full - length album comes on blue colored vinyl, with a printed inner sleeve. It's a limited edition of 1000, released by Sinderlyn in 2020.
