The title says it all. Jah Division, made up of members from Brooklyn's 21st - century DIY scene (some also part of Animal Collective and Oneida), reinterprets Joy Division classics. The result is a psychedelic collection of tunes, drenched in delay and reverb, like 'the sound of Manchester beamed into Brooklyn via the Black Ark.' At first glance, this project might seem off - putting, but a quick listen to 'Transmission Dub' reveals it's a serious effort. 'Dub Will Tear Us Apart' is the 12 - inch that brought the group fame. Using vintage gears like the Roland RS - 09 and the Realistic Concertmate MG - 1, Jah Division works on tracks such as 'Isolation Dub' and 'Heart And Soul Dub.' This edition includes a bonus 7' and is from the Ernest Jenning Record Co. in 2019. Reviewed by pocari papi 02/19.
Using this vinyl LP is simple. Just place it on a compatible record player, gently drop the needle on the groove, and enjoy the music.
